Logistics Visibility and Mobility Solution for Beverages Supplier

Pre-empting supply chain issues. Technology solution enables resolution of logistics issues before they impact the customer.

 

BACKGROUND

A beverages supplier wanted to improve efficiency in the delivery of product to customers. Driver downtime, logistics issues arising on the day of delivery and communication between delivery drivers and head office were all areas they believed could be improved.

 

 

PROJECT

FourPL were engaged by the beverage supplier to develop a systems strategy and implementation roadmap around logistics visibility and mobility to improve efficiency in the supply chain. The FourPL team worked with the customer over two months to deliver a vision, strategy and roadmap and then completed a business case and an approved program of work in the third month. We facilitated engagement with multiple product and hardware vendors from US, Europe and Australia to find the best technology solution for the customer and facilitated peer discussions with other organisations in their industry to ensure best practice. As part of the project we also consolidated a number of existing initiatives into a single program to provide a single vision for the business and IT to plan against.

 

 

OUTCOMES ACHIEVED

The FourPL team completed a successful pilot project and upskilled the customer team to deliver subsequent phases. The pilot project outcomes included:

  • Day of operations visibility and control into the delivery of goods and services to customers.
  • A single version of the truth for planned and actual performance.
  • Uncovered the physical and information constraints damaging customer service and DIFOT.
  • Implementation of a pilot visual interface that highlights performance near real time, enabling dynamic resolution of exceptions and issues before they impact customers.
